Today i learnt more about cultural element of communication design.

It can be language,colour,experience,history and priority.

I would like to talk more about the usage of words in China.

5000years ago,our ancestors began to create letters.They craved letters on the baked turtle shell.

They observed natural things and changed them into simple symbols.In the follwing centuries, there were developement on those simple symbols. In different dynasty,letters kept becoming more complicate(eg,combine letter to create new words,in Qin dynasty words change from round to rigid)

Chinese traditional words is great.You can explain most of the letters by identify each small part in them.You can find the amzazing place of ancestor mind.

for example , tears , 淚:

right hand side represent water.
left hand side 戾 means painful screaming sound.

Therefore add together , means cry when very very sad.

The invention of Chinese writing brushes,paper futher extent the potential of chinese words.They represent both language and art.They always stay together with chinese painting .

Differetn style of word :

Chinese is a country who likes natural.You can see from the development of word and painting,most are natural thing.The colour is plane and not sharpe.

However due to the chinese culture revolution ,some tadiontional words were being forced to change to simplier forms.

Some group same pronunciation words to one,some simplified the strokes.

The reason is that to reduce the number of illiteracy in China.To make thing simplier so that more people can learn.

However it ignore the meaning of each letter.The origin of some letter cannot be chased.I think there is a lost of history and culture!!!!

Now in China and some countries like Singapore,simplified chinese words are being used.However i think that there is a must for people to learn both traditional and simplified chinese letters!

I Read a book

I borrowed a book from library.
It is called " TOP 10 FOR MEN"

It is an interesting book,it shows over 250 issue about top ten in the world.
It talks about sports ,geography , science or some common phenomenon in our society.

Yesterday in DGC lesson,we learnt more about different form of media in terms of different dimensions which is :

Traditional media :

They hv continously addition of dimensions component :

1)width+height+depth(3D) 2)sequence 3)synergy 4)time 5)control 6)intelligence 7)distance 8)presence

one must be note that the new media must be built on the traditonal one as a base,like a pyramid.

I think in the world of movie,the is a heat of "connected media" , which is distance dimensions.Before we have 2D movie,than we have 3D ,and know we are trying to hv 4D in cinema.Actually in the 2nd terminal of HK airport,there is a 4D cinema.

However as some article said,most 3/4 D films foucus too much on technology rather than the content,they just want to attract people but not care on whole quality of films.

As i read newspaper,the up coming film"Avatar"

It use new technology : stereoscopic cameras(like using 2 camera filming at the same time) , the actors need to wear some equipment to capture their facial expression , also audience will be wearing a new 3D glasses .Hence audience won't fill dizzy when watching . The director emphazised that he both focus on technology and the content.Therefore i hope that this will be a great film .

But i think the greatest thing is that there is no need to wear glass when watching 3D films.This is inconvenient for ppl wearing glasses already. ^.^

Communication and some logo

Today i learnt that everywhere we hv communication design.From famous brand's logo,to street borad,notice,bus stop,poster,and even some tiny thing which always forget by ppl,eg,the design of door,button.

What designers designed can greatly affect the message that the products bring to us.Therefore we must be careful.We must judge carefully the product's target,where it will be displace...etc.

The shape,size and type of font,colour...must to be considered.If not,it may make ppl feeling confused,or even accident may occur.

The best communication design is wt can easily express its message.

Today we share some logo design.

And i think there is a design i think is good.I donno whether it can be said as logo or not,it is a representation image of chinese cultural ,TaiChi

There is many explaination to this image.The black and whit part can represent dark and light,soft and hard,male and female,sky and land...something which has contrast.The main idea is that thing always hv 2 side,they must be exist together equally in the world and cannot be seperate.Both of them are important.They turn in a cycle to maintain the world.The make an idea of chinese medicine,when ppl eat too much "hot" thg,like potato chips,fried food,they should eat some "cool" food like watermelon,pear in order to get back the balance.

Wt i saw in MK

Wow~!

I walked in Mong Kok yesterday and i saw this. This inspire me to think more about hk ppl.

Is hk ppl a cleanly cimmunity? Since the rubbish bin were full,but hk ppl still remember there resbonsibility,keep squeezing their rubbish into the bin in all the way that is possible.

OR

Is hk ppl a lazy community? Since this rubbish bin were full,but others were not.Ppl just need to walk a few steps,and they can throw their rubbish.

I believe hk ppl is the behind's one.

First week in university

First week having lessons in university.

New school , new schoolmates .

New subjects , new teachers .

Different classrooms , different friends .

No morning assembly , no devotion .

No uniform , no textbooks .

They all mean that i am going to have a new style of school life .

2 days be4, i went to the library to print notes for my lessons. People just walk in the library and sit in front of the computers and then use them.That is different from my secondary school that we hv to register for using computer.

Many ppl were printing notes at the same time.The printers continuous working,sometimes pp couldn't regonize which pieces of paper belong to them.

Printing notes means in the university , u should prepare everything for yourself.Which represents u should learn planning everything by yourself,eg time management,lessons, being independent.Hence like someone says "University is an important place,because it is a place for teenager to learn transforming to be an adult . "

That what printing notes reminds me. XD

Will i use out all the 400 printing quota !?
